Back in 2007 we were treated to a sneak look at the Steampunk laptop, we now have news that the device is ready for pre-order and we even have details on price and customizations options. We never thought that this Victorian laptop would ever see the light of day, but we are so pleased that it has.
This is obviously a newer version than the laptop that was seen four years ago, as it needed to be made faster, and packed with all the latest hardware and software. Also the new model has to be lighter by design to make it a more portable device – wonder if they will use one of the ultra-slim laptops? Thankfully all these new features will not affect that beautiful Victorian design.
We know that consumers hate to have the same laptop as everyone else, so you also have the chance to change a few options on the device. However, that will not be to the hardware, just some styling features. Some of these are as follows: choice of different LCD lids, brass plates, photo-etching, recessed gold foil maps and so much more.
One of the most prominent feature choices has to be the wood colors. The only issue we have with the Steampunk laptop apart from the price (which we will discuss later) is that there will only be a PC version. Now we know that Mac is all about state-of-the-art looks, but Apple fans will really miss out on this one.
The first run models will cost $5,500, but once those initial units have been sold then we are afraid that the price will go up to $7,700. If we were you then you had best get your pre-orders in soon. For more details on this visit Datamancer.
Would you pay $5,500 or $7,700 for the Steampunk laptop?
