Just last week we announced that Sony Ericsson had begun taking pre-orders for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread-run Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro smartphone, with shipping expected to be sometime this month. However, the company has now confirmed that the handset has been delayed.
As Carly Page over at somobile.co.uk recently noted, Sony Ericsson says that consumers should now expect the release date to be sometime in late July. Unfortunately there was no reason given as to why the launch of the business-focused smartphone was pushed back until Q3.
For those of you that don’t already know, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro comes with a 3.7-inch touch-screen, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, up to 32GB of expandable memory, both front and rear-facing cameras, HSDPA and Wi-Fi. It also features Sony Ericsson’s TimeScape UI and the Facebook Inside Xperia app.
The handset is still available to pre-order for £349.99, as long as you don’t mind waiting a little longer than expected to get your hands on it. We’ll make sure we keep you updated if we hear any news about a specific release date for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro.
Were you hoping to pick up the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro handset this month?
