We have some rather interesting news now for those of you that live in Canada and are thinking about buying a new smartphone, as TELUS has recently announced that it will be launching a special ‘Skype Edition’ of the popular LG Optimus Black Android handset sometime this summer.
As Ian Hardy over at mobilesyrup.com recently noted, the handset will run on the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system (although it will be upgraded to 2.3 Gingerbread) and comes with a 4-inch NOVA touch screen, Wi-Fi, a 1500mAh battery, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera.
What makes the special ‘Skype Edition’ more interesting however is the fact that it comes pre-loaded with a Skype application, where users will be able to download the latest version of Skype Mobile. The LG Optimus Black handset will also include 60 minutes of Skype international calling credit.
What’s more is that future Skype credits will be directly charged to the user’s monthly bill. As we mentioned in a previous article, the LG Optimus Black is powered by a 1GHz processor and includes 2GB of internal storage. You can read more about the ‘Skype Edition’ over at telusmobility.com.
