Now that things have settled down after the first day’s barrage of E3 and WWDC it is nice to see some news of different products. Today we thought we would see what the Zotac ZBOX mini-PC has to offer, and how it compares to the Mac Mini. With all the information that has been shared we find it strange that there are no price details yet.
The upcoming ZBOX mini-PC was at the recent Computex event and on first impressions looks like one of the older Mac Mini models. Inside things are very different; the processor is a dual-core model from VIA with speed choices of 1.2 or 1.6GHz. This pales in comparison to the Mac Mini, as you have a choice of 2.4GHz or 2.66GHz.
As yet we have no details of how much RAM there will be, but with know that Apple’s little computer comes with either 2GB or 4GB. The ZBOX has 3 USB ports, whereas the Mac has 4. However, they both have HDMI and display ports and boast a multi-card reader.
Engadget is hoping that the price of the ZBOX mini-PC will not be as much as others on the market, but we do not believe that it will be. Zotac knows that they need to compete in a tough market; so getting the price right could be the difference between success and failure.
