iOS 6 wish list for 2012 release

By Posted 7 Jun 2011, 22:49

Now that we have learned what Apple has been up to with iOS 5, we thought that this would be the perfect opportunity for an iOS 6 wish list for its 2012 release. Apple will have to bring a few special things to the plate, as this will be expected to be installed in the iPhone 6, which should offer full 4G LTE connectivity.

We have already seen with iOS 5 that Apple has taken a huge leap forward in terms of features. Yes, we do know that they have copied a few key features from rivals, but we discussed earlier that this is common in such a market. Now that the upcoming iOS will come with a host of iCloud features, you have to wonder what will come next?

Personally we would love to see a way to cancel a SMS before it is sent, we cannot remember how many times we have started to send one, only to find it was going to the wrong person. Another feature that seems to have been missed with iOS 5 is turn-by-turn directions; we had assumed that it was coming – but we were wrong.

We still do not know what all of the updates are on iOS 5, as Apple only gave us a handful. We have just learned that Voice Control will still make it, but that’s all we know at this moment. What is your iOS 6 wish list for 2012?

i hate desktop widgets but dashboard would be great! it could be the last tab on the home screen (similar to spotlight!)

Merge Calendar and Reminders, Reminders and Notes, or all three together.  And merge iBooks and Newsstand.  And the ability to remove apps (It’s not like everyone has trillions of stocks or like Youtube the best).

Honestly, iOS is fine as it is right now. With that said, I think they should focus more on iTunes because it is buggy , slow , and very restrictive (not enough options). In my opinion they should throw out their current code and do a full rewrite like Microsoft did with Vista to 7. Apple please—your killing us PC users. Good hardware bad software. Also make a Linux version of iTunes. I’ll get 100′s of thousands new customers. OK….one more time……Please Apple…..Revamp iTunes…….and screw over Ping………

    Thanks!

iOS 5 is gonna be OKAY. it’s not a great update. It sucks. The features we always wanted are not in that iOS. For example adobe flash, customization, better notifications, and 4G LTE. Apple did a bad job. Their is already iOS 5.1 out their in the Internet for developers that work for apple. Believe me iOS 6 will have more better features.

Adobe Flash and 4G? That is not possible with the current devices. For Adobe Flash, along with iOS getting the technologies, the iOS devices need a way to signal the cursor to work with pointer rollovers, which is part of Adobe Flash. To add support for 4G or any newer cellular data technologies that come, the iPhone and CellData-enabled iPad need updated SIM hardware. Maybe these features will come with iOS 6 on the iPhone 6, iPod Touch 6th generation, and iPad 3.

iOS 4′s new Folders feature made me think of this. I hoped that iOS 5 had it, but that was false:

Folders in Folders (subfolders): Utilities->Apple, Inc.->Find My iPhone, Games->Simulation->NimbleBit->Pocket Frogs, etc. There is now one option for dropping a folder in a folder: subfolders. Maximum Home Screen Items should change from over 2,000 to as much as the device can hold.

Auto-organize when needed: If the home screen is full and you try to install a new app or add a new webclip on the home screen, all the applications will be organized into folders by auto-organize key 1. If all the existing folders are also full, the folders will be organized into subfolders by auto-organize key 2. So on, this can go so deep, but once iOS is out of auto-organize keys, the deep subfolders will be organized as (SubFolderName).1, (SubFolderName).2 (SubFolderName).3, and so on. The default auto-organize keys will be (Category), (Subcategory wherever possible), (App Developer), You can create your own auto-organize keys by specifying it’s name for each app you have. iOS will automatically search for where that information is in the application files, and use that place of information for the key.

For iOS 6 Apple should make the FaceTime group video calling so you can video call with more than one person at a time.

    • Fun8q

That’s a combination of conference calls and FaceTime. Just test FaceTime with conference calls for now.

the ability to make custom ringtones on your phone and an auto-block number list so it will automatically go to voicemail and not disturb you. a lot of phones.. including my old samsung phones had the auto block list and i miss it. It’s great for solicitors who won’t take you off their call list. they also had the ringtone makers… instead of having to fiddle with itunes to make a free ringtone, or pay 99 cents for a part of a song you already bought.

I think for iOS 6 their should be a calling app for where you can talk in the car, since iOS 5 is going to have the imessage app.

I also think that their should be a voicemail on the phone app that I requested.

In iOS 6, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Apple, can we iPad owners have the clock and weather apps?

  • ccX71

    1. A file manager. In IOS 5 (and earlier), when you open a file in one program (e.g. PDF reader 1) and later in a second one (PDF reader 2) then both programs save a copy. Why not store all – for example mail attachments – in one place, where you can organize the files in folders.
    2. Sharing information. In Windows 8 Preview, it is possible to: copy a piece of text, open a sidebar to select a way to share this text (email, twitter, etc) without leaving – in IOS’s case – Safari.

Please have an ” App Killer ” app or something to kill all the apps that are running in your background. Also make Adobe Flash Player compatible with all Apple products. Also, maybe add in some themes. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make Siri available to I Phone 4! Thanks.
