We have just brought you the key release details for Apple’s Mac OS X Lion software update, and now we have the same information to bring you for iOS 5. We now know when the software update will be available and also which iPhone models will be supported by it.
To cut to the chase, iOS 5 will introduce 200 new features to users, with Apple going to detail on 10 of them. We’ll be bringing you full details of what has been added, but for now most of you just want to know when it will be out.

We can tell you that the update will be available download over the air, yes OTA sometime during Fall. Expect a solid release date to come closer to that period. As for supported devices, you’ll be pleased to hear that iOS 5 will support every iPhone model except the iPhone 3G, just like iOS 4. Both the iPad and iPad 2 are supported, as are the 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch devices.
