The Sims 3: Generations expansion pack may have only been out for about a week, but that doesn’t appear to have stopped the publisher Electronic Arts from announcing the next installment, The Sims 3: Pets, which will be available for the PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, PC and Mac.
As Alexander Sliwinski at joystiq.com notes, The Sims 3: Pets will be a brand new standalone game for the PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360, and standard expansion pack for the Mac and PC. The Sims 3: Pets enables players to create, customize, control, breed and even share many different animals.
The Xbox 360 version will come with Microsoft Kinect capabilities, enabling players to control both their Sims and their pets using voice commands. Meanwhile, the Nintendo 3DS version will use the built-in pedometer, meaning that the more the player walks the more Karma points they will earn.
Players can then use their earned Karma Points on in-game items. Using the Nintendo 3DS’s StreetPass function, gamers will have the ability to gift pets to other Pets owners. The PC / Mac expansion pack provides players with the opportunity to create, customize and even play as horses.
