We have more worrying news to bring to Mac users now, as it has been confirmed that a new version of the pesky MacDefender malware software is once again doing the rounds, managing to bypass security that was issued in a recent Mac OS X update from Apple.
As we informed you a week ago, an update was scheduled to fix issues for users related to the MacDefender software. But just hours after the update went live this week, a new version is already out, threatening users with messages that their system is infected and that they should run this software to solve the problems.
It does the complete opposite as you might have guessed and perhaps the most worrying aspect of this new version, is the fact that the new file, indentified as Mdinstall.pkg has been specifically designed to block Apple’s latest malware-blocking code that went live this week, as reported from ZDNet.
So what can be done about it if you’re infected you ask? Downloading Security Update 2011-003 from the Apple support pages can help for starters. If the software intentifies any strange activity on your Mac, you should be fine after that once’s it’s removed from your system.
