PlayStation Store back online updates from Sony, satisfied?

By Updated on

There seems to be a growing trend that gamers are unhappy with the PlayStation Store back online updates from Sony, as they are not satisfied with the frequency of them. Some PSN users are disgusted with the current level of service that they have received. There have hardly been any updates from Sony regarding when the service will return – apart from today of course.

The latest details we have is that PSN will be back up by the end of the week. However, this will not be for all regions – so yet another vague update to put up with. We really do not know how much more of this users can take, and with more attacks planned (which we will discuss in details later) the future of Sony’s gaming sector is not looking that great.

Some of our readers are not happy, saying that Sony are working hard to “maximize security” and hoping that they do not “cheap out on their new security”. Others are saying that they will sell their PS3 if “Sony screw up again” and make the move to PC gaming instead – no mention of Xbox 360 then?

We should give Sony a break though, as they are certainly under a great deal of pressure here. Not only will the PSN Store take the most amount of work, but they also have the fear that they are under attack from individuals. Maybe it is time for the government to step in and find out who is doing such a thing and why.

You may wonder why a private company should get help from the Government? Well when you think that our personal data was taken the first time round this presents a security issue. This is not the first time that governments have stepped in to help companies, especially in the U.S.

I bought my unit just as they (SONY) was shutting down their servers, so I fall into the “you get nothing for your inconcience” because I wasn’t a “Member” yet (I couldn’t sign up..server were down!) but Thanks for letting us ream you after you chose our product!  Fix the servers or get out of the business!!!

I know the hack wasnt sonys fault but after is all on them.. They should have been better prepared.. Now they know there being targeted they need to take measures to put an end to the threat or like Doofus1 said “get out of the business”

What annoys me is sony and everyone says our Personal data is at risk. Which is in fact wrong and propoganda spread by sony to make you hate hackers. 77 million accounts where hacked no credit card details where taken, or reported stolen. Everyone fails to realise the hackers arent after you the gamers or youre money, there after sony, and sony are scared. Dont let them b*lls**t you theat your data is at risk, sonys business is at risk not you!

No my email address and password information is at risk.  That along with my billing address can be used for identity fraud.  Since all of the above was taken from their databases (or not completely depending on who at Sony is asked) they felt they had to offer credit protection for all PSN users.

If it wasn’t as widespread as all 77 million people, why would Sony offer the protection from a 3rd party company to EVERY PERSON and not just a select few?

im a ps3 owner and i ws at first worried about it but know im not after learning why the hackers are doing it though enraged me they arent hurting the company only the people who play the games over what spilt milk because sony acted on something they said they would if you broke there terms of use the guy who got started this all got what he deserved for what he did the hackers are now just hurting the gamers who want to enjoy there games not the company as they already made there money

If you are all so annoyed go over to the xbox and pay for your online gaming…. Sony provide a free service, yeah it got hacked but hell everybody has a bad time evey now and then. Get over yoursleves were all suffering but unlike you we don’t all complain and sulk becuase they are taking a day or 2 longer than the anticipated.

A day or two?  Maybe you should check out a calendar.  Almost 7 weeks is not a day or 2.  I am an Xbox user primarily so, yes, I do pay outright for my live service.  But saying that the PSN is free is not entirely true since it is a feature that is bundled with my purchase of a PS3.  If my wireless bluetooth feature broke on my controller and I had to use it plugged into my PS3 all the time, should I say don’t worry it was free?  That isn’t logical.

Your argument lacks logic which you should be able to notice if you re-read through what you wrote.  Yes your first controller may be bundled in but it is in no way related to the PSN service.  The controller is not truly free, it is bundled so you have access to play games when you pick up the console.  PSN is a free service, completely different than anything else in your bundle.  Many users enjoy their playstation without ever touching PSN where as all users have controllers… Makes sense why you pay for one not the other.  Sure PSN has its flaws that were exploited but for the money I save every year not paying for my internet services it surely beats xbox!  I’ll live through one month of no service and maybe I can put all that money I’ve saved towards buying a new controller.. oh wait it isn’t broken.  Or am I just not being logical?

people need to get the word out that we are not pissed at sony but the people who are hacking the system the hackers are not hurting sony as they dont make money for there online play like ms does so really all this is doing is hurting the consumers and the people who want to play the games so stop hating the company trying to fix the problem but instead aim it at the problem aka the hackers

    • Anonymous

To say the hackers are not hurting sony is ridiculous. Sony dont make a penny selling consoles in fact they take a loss on every one, the way they make money is royalties from games and sales through the playstation store which is why free online play is such a unique selling point for ps. they are losing millions. Just imagine what will happen if sony dont stabalize the network before MW3 is released. Although you have to pay for xbox live (16p per day… pffff.) the network is miles better because xbox uses member subscriptions to maintain and improve the service where as sony use their own money and run it on a shoestring.

I have been the most understanding that someone could ever be about this whole issue. I mean, it hurts me to vote “No” regarding my satisfaction.. but its just the truth. I am a proud PS3 owner and 100% supporter of sony and yet I am an unsatisfied customer. That being said, I highly doubt there is ANYONE who is satisfied.. anyone who voted “Yes”.. I’m sorry but you must be joking right?

im glad the online play is back up, but regarding the free games that are apart of the “Welcome back” package, id just like to say thanks for the CRAPIEST 5 games you could find. now im not a junkie to play and have a real life but considering almost all my games are online based it really did suck. i know that they are free and all that blah blah blah crap. but seriously? you mean our acounts coulda been hacked, we lose online play for near 2 months, the store is still not up, which means no CoD new maps (for example) and your im sorry is the crappiest games you could find? thank you sony…man i miss the old eq1 days when your company actually had a clue, ever since eq2 came out you seem to be getting all your ideas from retarded chimps…..i like my ps3 and dont want a xbox again but come on.
