The announcement of Intel SSD motherboards from Gigabyte was not much of a surprise, and is something that we will be seeing a lot more of very soon. The new boards come with 20GB of SSD storage built-on, and is said to help improve performance when it comes to Intel Smart Response Technology. We should expect to get our hands on this sometime next month.
This is a world first, but we have to wonder why it has taken so long, as there will be huge benefits? The motherboard in question is called Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3-iSSD and will offer an increase in system performance, but there will also be a number of other advantages. Maybe we could decide to use this to store our operating system on, and then all other programs can use your standard hard drive, as SSD is still an expensive option?
We should learn more during Computex 2011, but if you visit the official Gigabyte website you get to see just what the new motherboard is all about. There will be a number of built-in visuals, such as Intel Quick Sync Video, Intel InTru™ 3D, Intel Insider and more. What users will like the most is how they can modify their BIOS settings much easier than ever before.
If this motherboard is a little too much for you, then there are another four new models to consider: GA-Z68XP-UD3, GA-Z68XP-D3, GA-Z68AP-D3 and the GA-Z68P-DS3. All of these still offer a great number of features, but they do lack Intel SSD built-in. These five new motherboards certainly makes those from MSI and ASUS look a little dated. Do you think that this is something that you will use?
