A few days ago we told you that the iPhone 4 was launching in India, now we have found out some interesting information about how Aircel are promoting their new offering and how much the smartphone costs.
Let’s start with the cost, a recent article posted on TheMobileIndian tells us that the iPhone 4 is more expensive in India than anywhere else despite arriving almost a year later. Both Aircel and Airtel will charge you Rs 34,500 for the 16 GB model and almost Rs 40,900 for the 32GB model, if you check out their article you will see that this equates to a lot more than the asking price in the USA, Europe, Australia and Japan.
Obviously for a lot of people price is not really an issue, therefore Aircel and Airtel will be heavily promoting their new smartphones, Aircel has come up with a pretty unique way of spreading the word about the iPhone 4. Aircel has made backpacks which feature portable, illuminated billboards showing off the Aircel iPhone 4, these are called look-walkers and you can see some photos and read more about them over at afaqs.com.
So far the iPhone 4 has been a huge success no-matter where it launches, therefore despite the hefty price tag we expect it to go down well in India, we just wonder if sales will take a hit if Apple reveal the iPhone 5 next week at WWDC 2011.
Do you think the iPhone 4 will be a success in India?
