Toshiba packing 367ppi pixel density: iPhone 4 threat

By Updated on

With most of the new smartphones that are being released lately, there are little differences between them as they all have pretty much the same features; it’s just a question of which devices have the best features that you’re looking for. A couple of days ago Toshiba unveiled its latest range of LCD displays for mobile phones.

These displays again seem pretty similar to what we have already seen at first glance. However one of the displays was 3.3”, packed 300ppi and had a resolution of 480 x 864. Impressive but not as much as the 4” they had on show. It packs about 367ppi pixel density, with a contrast of 1,500:1, placing it higher in that department than the Retina Display.

At SID 2011 Engadget were able to get up close and experience the panels for themselves. In their article they explain that hearing about the 367ppi display doesn’t compare to seeing it. It even shows video of 720p, something the iPhone 4 lacks and they also say the images are crisp and clear.

Little was given away from the Toshiba representatives again and when asked which phone would feature the panel they refused to comment though they did say it would be released this year. Check out the link above to find out more about the new range from Toshiba.
