As most of you are aware, consumers are still waiting patiently for any news regarding the official release date for the highly anticipated Motorola Droid Bionic handset on Verizon. Unfortunately we still dont have any info on that yet, but we recently learned some very relevant information regarding the unreleased Motorola Droid X2 handset also on Verizon.
We previously told you that the Droid X2 would be available to buy on May 26th, and we now know what sort of specs the handset will possess, and we’re pleasantly surprised with what Motorola are offering. For a quick refresh, the X2 will pack a 1Ghz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, a 4.3-inch qHD display screen, an 8MP rear camera, 720p HD recording, 1080p HDMI out support and it will also run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
There were initial fears that the X2 would just turn out to be a ‘mid-level’ handset on Verizon, but as you can see the hardware specs are pretty impressive and it now becomes a handset that you should seriously consider picking up on Verizon.
But what about the Droid Bionic? We imagine this will be out a few weeks after the X2, and the specs are very similar but with a few notable differences. For example, you’ll still get a Tegra 2 processor, a 4.3-inch qHD display and Android Gingerbread, but the big differences are that the Droid Bionic comes with Verizon 4G LTE support as well as a front-facing camera. These two specs are missing from the X2, leaving you with a difficult choice on which handset to pick up this Summer.
Will you pick up the Droid Bionic purely because of 4G data support, or will you pick up the Droid X2 which will likely be cheaper as you’re not too bothered about 4G? It’s a very important decision to make, as X2 owners may feel regret if they pick this up on May 26th, then the Droid Bionic releases a few weeks later with better features.
Let us know your thoughts on the two handsets. Droid Bionic or Droid X2?
