YikeBike gets make-under: Cheaper alloy version now available

You may recall a little while ago us bringing you news of an electric bicycle known as the YikeBike. We previously wrote about the YikeBike’s extender battery backpack offering six more hours of travel. Now we have news of an alternative model designed to be cheaper.

The motorized modern design was originally constructed out of carbon fiber which turns out makes the product a little more expensive than most people are willing to accept. Although the developers managed to ship a fair amount of the YikeBikes, it seems they want to add to that amount by making it more affordable.

According to the article at Stuff the ‘new’ models are made from a reinforced alloy material bringing the price down significantly from $3,500 to just $2000. Despite the new material making the new design heavier than the original, it doesn’t alter the funky fresh looks.

The carbon fiber version weighs 10.8kg whereas the new model, known as the Fusion model weighs 14kg. You can check out the full article from Stuff by clicking the link above where you can also find out where to get each version from.
