New PSN restoration update, few more days yet

By Posted 10 May 2011, 19:09

We have had a lot of speculation of when the PlayStation Network will be back online. There has been talk the service will not be fully back until the end of the month. Now today Nick Caplin has posted on the PlayStation Blog with a new PSN restoration update, and it could be a few more days yet before we see the service resumed.

The latest post on the PlayStation Blog from Caplin he says that there is still no date for when service will again be available. But he does say that “it will likely be at least a few more days”. He goes on to again apologize for the problems with the continued downtime, and thanks users for their continued patience.

The continued lack of an exact date for the service to be resumed will be frustrating for PS3 owners. They have been promised some free games once the service is back online, but will probably just want the service available for the games they already own.

The company is obviously making sure the PlayStation Network is secure as it can be to try and prevent problems like this happening again. Are you fed up not having an exact date for PSN being back online?

i would just like an estimated time allowance.

if they said PSN will be working for may 20th, i would feel a bit re-assured, if they didnt meet that deadline and gave another deadline that still wouldnt be too bad.

but at the moment, its as if sony dont care. They might as well say 'FCUK YOU we will fix it when we can be bothered, until then, wait and wait and wait a bit more'

the free games they offer is some sort of compensation, not enough for some people who have had their details stolen, but for me its good enough, providing they are decent games and not the rubbish stuff what no body buys from PSN

all I would want is a date for the restoration, as it happens, now, every time Sony puts up a new update, all I hear is blah blah bullsh!t blah blah, its got beyond a joke. I appreciate that it went down, hell there are hackers out there who could hack MI5 databases if they we're dumb enough to risk life in prison, but Sony don't understand how frustrating it is to be kept in the dark. They should have handled this whole thing so much better!
    JUST GIVE US A DATE!

I understand that any network can be hacked given time. With that in mind all companies should have a plan, so they can be back online in a few days. Since it doesn't look like sony had a plan this time they will next time for sure. Personally I don't use the PS+ or music service and never will, so freebies in those catagories are mute for me. I only use PSN for system, game updates and DLC's. The outage has done nothing to me, except kept me from buying some DLC's. Personally if its not up by friday then Im going back to 360 and probably not come back to PS3. I know Im only one person so it wont hurt Sony.

My opinion of Sony hasn't changed one bit… Everyone is upset at Sony. Why? Sony is not to blame. The hackers are. Sony is just taking precautions and rightfully so. Was atari, nintendo, super nintendo, sega all online mp's? Heck no. They were all sp games. The whiners and cryers don't remember those systems do they! The kids today don't know those systems. Everyone should just stop whining crying and bluffing about buying the xbox. And just "remember"

im an old school gamer i had a nintendo at the age of five. i remember all old systems the only system i did not own is sega saturn. that being said, i feel that im an old schooler.so on your comment ill give u that KIDS now dont know those systems. 100% i hate kids that dont know the history, but no matter what the fact that sony got hacked is not totaly crazy. the evolution of gaming these days puts everybodys network at risk people are smarter about computer shit than they were in 95,90,87,furthermore, get my point i, myself remeber 100% perfect dark, final fantasy 3, 7, chrono trigger. but my point is wether your an old school gamer or not psn is a service n they should give a eta of the psn service just because we r loyal customers granted the service is free but playstation plus n jus loyal ps users n generalshouldngive the sony company a sense of urgencey. i was a loyal nintendo user until ps came out. since then, ps forever

Did he now? He needs to stop thanking the users for their continued patience, because the number of us that have kept our patience can probably be counted on one hand. Caplin should start thanking specific names of us that actually are patiently waiting, and to hell with everyone else. They don't deserve your thanks.
