A mysterious countdown clock appeared on the Japanese Namco Bandai website about a week ago, leading many gamers to believe that a new SoulCalibur game was in the works. Well now it looks as though they were correct, as the SoulCalibur 5 game has just been confirmed.
According to a recent article by C.J. Smillie over on gamerant.com, the SoulCalibur V game was confirmed via a recent post on the Twitter page of the game’s director Daishi Odashima, who has been answering questions regarding the forthcoming title ever since.
However, it looks like some SoulCalibur fans may be left feeling slightly disappointed following the recent confirmation, as Odashima also revealed that Shura – an extra character who only appeared in the SoulCalibur IV title – would not be returning for the next installment.
No reason was given as to why she would not be returning, but it could be because she was only an extra character in a previous game and wasn’t integral to the plot. Another possible surprise revelation for fans is the fact that Siegfried will not be the main character in SoulCalibur 5.
Unfortunately that’s the only details we have at this stage, but we will keep you updated when we do hear more. Are you looking forward to a new SoulCalibur game?
