It’s been a few years now since the original Heavenly Sword was released as a PS3 exclusive, and no doubt fans have been wondering if there was ever going to be a sequel. Well now it looks like they are in luck, as recent reports have suggested that Heavenly Sword 2 is now in development.
However, according to a recent article over on the gamers-corner.co.uk website, Ninja Theory – the developer of the original Heavenly Sword – will not be involved in the development of the sequel. It’s also been noted that the Heavenly Sword 2 game will also be released as a PlayStation 3 exclusive.

Heavenly Sword 2 is expected to be an open world sandbox game, which reportedly takes place 10 years after the events of the first HS. The missions are also said to re-playable within an interactive environment, which could mean pickup and play makeshift weapons or deformable scenery.
The ‘Heavenly Sword’ will not be with players from the beginning of the game either. Players will be required to earn the sword by mastering various martial arts. Although it’s not been explained, it could mean that you start with basic hand-to-hand styles such as karate and work your way up.
There has been no mention of a release date as of yet, but we are hearing reports that more will be revealed at this year’s E3 event. Are you a Heavenly Sword fan? If so, what do you think of a new game being released?
