L.A. Noire: Rockstar Says No Plans for PC / Mac Versions

By Posted 7 May 2011, 15:17

There appears to have been a bit of confusion recently as to whether or not the highly anticipated L.A. Noire game would be released for the PC, after the ESRB listed a PC version on their website. However, Rockstar has since said that it has no plans for PC / Mac versions of the game.

According to a recent article over at thegamerbuzz.com by Benjamin Garza, the PC listing has since been removed from the ESRB website. When the guys at theGamerBuzz spoke to a Rockstar representative recently, the rep simply stated that there are no plans for PC or Mac versions at this time.

‘At this time’ could well mean that PC and Mac gamers may just see the L.A. Noire game released for their platforms at a later date, but for now I wouldn’t hold your breath. The Entertainment Software Rating Board has given the L.A. Noire game a mature rating for blood and gore among other things.

In other news, Rockstar Games recently revealed more details on the new Social Club feature of its L.A. Noire game, which enables players to ‘Ask the Community’ during the times that Cole Phelps – the game’s main character – is interviewing both suspects and witnesses.

Were you hoping to see the L.A. Noire game released for PC or Mac?

If it's ever released for PC I think I'll get it … otherwise, no.

I want to see Rockstar release this, and Red Dead Redemption on PC and Mac. I don't see why they favor the consoles. I play both, so I don't care either way, but a lot of my friends play nothing BUT PC so thay have to miss out.

I wonder if they are just still mad about the Hot Coffee mod being found in the PC version of GTA:SA.

agree with Randy. Please release for the PC

You DO know that this is discrimination, right ? Not releasing for the PC or a certain console.

  • Stuee

It’s so sad. Some of the best games, which used to be developed for PC and ported to the less powerful consoles, are now developed for consoles and, if we’re lucky, ported to PC, along with inferior graphics and console-centric menus, controls and limitations.

I can only assume that piracy is a big problem, and that developers are sick to death of seeing revenue disappear down the drain as thousands of copies of their games are in the wild even before the official release date of their games.

I’m very very sad, and frustrated. Mostly because I HATE using analogue controllers and would much prefer mouse + keyboard for most games, especially ones like L.A. Noire. But also because console games typically cost about a third more than their PC counterparts, and you get a lot less for your money.

    :-(

agree with Stuee, also im not willing to splash out couple hundred dollars buying the console and a tv with it. In my house we only have 1 large tv, and my parents will not be fond of me playing such game on tv :(

  • ERIC

As a 50 year old crime fan – I would instantly buy one for the mac but i am not going to buy a gaming console for the game

It is sad…RDR was the last console game that I've bought and it'll remain the last console game that I'll buy for the current gen unless the newest SSX is released only on console (which is most likely will be)…it's the one game that I can appreciate with the console controllers and current hardware.

We've all most likely spent money on consoles but even more on PC's/Macs because they do so much more. Also, for me I prefer the mouse and keyboard combination (and my console controller works perfectly with my PC so why deny me the option?).

At the end of the day though we all know the reasoning…console games sell for a lot more – they're less prone to piracy (although not immune…I just heard that L.A. Noire is already available to download for the 360 :-( so what are us PC gamers that are willing to pay do to?) and they typically prevent any unwanted modding.

Ah well…I love you Rockstar!!! However, screw you if you refuse to support the PC platform in future.

Yes, we need it for PC too!! Porting it would take much less effort than the income and respect it would generate for Rockstar… So not releasing it is not rational in the end. It would be good both for PC users and for Rockstar. Why don’t do it then??
