The portable media market is dominated by Apple with its range of iPods, but not everyone can afford to go down the Apple route or may not even want too. Other companies have tried to compete with Apple and offered alternatives, but like the Zune from Microsoft not always succeeded. But the Creative Zen Style M300, iPod Nano rival has been released.
TechRadar are reporting the new device from Creative is slightly bigger than the iPod Nano, and has a variety of features. It features a 1.45-inch screen and can be used with wireless headphones thanks to the Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity.
One clever feature is the fact owners can expand the memory via the microSD card slot. It comes with a range of memory sizes starting at 4GB going up to 16GB. There is a built-in FM radio with 32 pre-sets for your favorite channels. Battery life is up to an impressive twenty hours and there is support for MP3, WAV, WMA file formats.
The devices are available to buy now starting at $79/£39. The iPod Nano starts at around $135, so the new device is quite competitive. There is also the M100 range which is even cheaper but doesn’t feature the FM radio or Bluetooth.
