With the recent release of the white iPhone 4 and before that the Verizon handset, many reports of late are suggesting a new iPhone will not be released until the Fall of 2011. Now we have a report which claims confirmation that there will be no iPhone 5 release in the summer.
An article on MacRumors by Eric Slivka is claiming a reader has been told by an AT&T customer care person, that Apple have confirmed to them that the iPhone 5 will not be released in its usual time of the year. The person first contacted AT&T after he noticed his eligibility date for a discounted upgrade had been extended by over five months.
The AT&T representative said that Apple had said the next iPhone will not release during the summer, but there is a newer version in the pipeline. For now they have not been given a release time for the handset. Normally we can expect to hear about the iPhone at the WWDC event in June.
Now this is only speculation and it can’t be proven one way or another that these claims are true, but it seems more likely that people waiting for the iPhone 5 have a few months yet. Do you still expect to see the iPhone 5 released in the summer?
