Motorola Droid Bionic Release Date Saga Update – New Form Factor

By Updated on

Lately there has been a lot of mystery surrounding the Motorola Droid Bionic release date delay, yesterday specs were taken off the Motorola website, today we are hearing that there may be a change in form-factor.

According to Droid-Life the phone is being delayed due to feedback from CES, when it does finally become available there will be an improved form factor, more features and expanded functionality.

Exactly what Motorola have in mind is not clear at the moment, however we imagine that there were complaints at CES about the smartphone’s design, perhaps it was awkward to use, perhaps it wasn’t well balanced, its had to say.

All of this information was posted on the Motorola website (here), as you would expect no further details regarding the form-factor change, features or functionality were given, therefore we will have to keep you posted as we find out more.

You can see a brief hands on video with the Droid Bionic here, the handset does look quite bulky, however there are no obvious reasons for such a delay in our opinion, can you spot anything?

We will keep you up-to-date with all of the Droid Bionic news as we hear it, will you wait for this smartphone?

I have seen several videos on the Motorola Bionic. With all of the hype and excitement everyone seems to have about this phone personally I was not terribly impressed with it's look. It did seem somewhat bulky. I was expecting to see something exciting to look at but what I saw was not flashy or impressive or unique. Recently I purchased a Sony PCM-D50 Linear Recorder. It is beautiful, flashy and people comment on it constantly. It is made of aluminum and it really stands out. This is what Motorola needs to come up with. This is what I expected of the Motorola Droid Bionic.

I'm a gadget guy and I was ready to make the Bionic purchase but frankly I'm glad they have decided to design a new form factor. Possibly they need to consult with Sony on designing a functional eye catching droid phone. I'll be waiting.

Maybe Motorola and verizon decided to change the specs because as the specs stand currently, the soon to be released HTC Sensation will spank it. HTC sensation will have 1.2 gz dual core and more ram (768mb), than the bionic (1gz dual core and 512mb ram) however, internal storage (4gb) on the sensation appears to be lacking. If the droid is supposed to be the top dog, then, motorola and verizon had to up the specs. Motorola and verizon could have gotten away with the current specs if the phone had been released at the sme time as the atrix. Now folks know about the sensation and it's specs so a release of the bionic with inferior specs is not good for verizon's image that parlays the droid brand as the top dog of smartphones.
