Back in August last year we announced that the HBO Go streaming service was going to be coming to the iPad (and other mobile devices) at some stage, although we didn’t exactly know when. We now appear to have a bit of a clearer picture, thanks to a recently released YouTube video.
As Tom Chereder at venturebeat.com recently noted, the HBO Go streaming app is heading to the iPhone and iPad as from May 2nd, with an Android version coming later on. The app will enable current HBO subscribers to stream their favorite HBO shows on their tablets and smartphones.
The streaming service will provide users with the ability to view the entire HBO library of content, which includes 1,400 episodes, movies and documentaries. The downside however is the fact that you do have to be subscribed to a HBO package through a pre-existing satellite or cable provider.
This includes AT&T, Verizon, DirecTV and Comcast. Although the iPad was the only device that was specifically mentioned in the video, we presume that the app will be available on all iOS devices when it’s launched. There was no mention of an Android version, but we’re pretty sure this will follow later.
You can view the YouTube video below this post. Are you a HBO subscriber with an iPhone or iPad? If so, will you be downloading this app?
