MG Returns with Longbridge-Built MG6 – Price and Brief Specs

By Jamie Pert - Apr 14, 2011

It has been a while since we have seen a vehicle built at MG’s Longbridge plant, however after a six-year hiatus the car factory has re-opened and the new MG6 family hatchback has been unveiled.

According to a recent article posted on AutoTrader.co.uk the MG6 will sell for £15,495, at first there will be a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 158bhp, apparently it has been tuned to help it deliver the sporting drive which we have come to expect from MG vehicles.

The car’s components will be sent from China and will be assembled at Longridge, if all goes to plan the factory should produce 20 cars per day. It seems as if MG Motor see it as a competitor to the Skoda Octavia, in the future a saloon variant will hopefully compete with the Volkswagen Jetta and Chevrolet Cruze.

If you check out this link you can see a full gallery of MG MG6 photos, it looks great considering how long its been since a car was last assembled at this factory, let’s just hope fuel consumption and attention to detail is equally pleasing.

As we find out more about the MG MG6 we will keep you posted, will you buy an MG car in the future?
