Battlefield 3: PC Graphics better than Xbox 360, PS3 – Does it Matter

By Updated on

We have some major news for those of you planning to pick up Battlefield 3 in November this year, as EA DICE has seemingly confirmed that the PC version of the game will take full advantage of the Frostbite 2.0 engine, resulting in higher quality graphics than the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.

The comments have come from EA DICE executive producer Patrick Bach, when he was speaking in a recent interview with VideoGamer. Below are the key parts of his statement about the PC version.

”What we’re showing on PC might look better than on console. The higher resolution, the higher framerate, the anti-aliasing, the motion blur, stuff like that. We can’t have it to the same quality on the console.”

However, Bach was keen to point out that the console versions of Battlefield 3 will still be of the highest quality, even going as far to say that it will ‘probably’ be the best looking game out on console period. As an Xbox 360 or PS3 owner reading his comments though, what are your thoughts? Will you still pick up a console version of the game, or will you now get it on PC to get the best graphics possible.

We all saw EA’s mind blowing gameplay trailers for Battlefield 3, and if the console versions look significantly worse, it might persuade a few owners to get the PC version instead. Hopefully we see some console gameplay soon so we can get a better idea of what EA DICE are planning.

Not a big deal, as long as the game is amazing!!

Welle you're stating the obvious… But anyway, if the PS3 version runs smoothly without framerate drops and screen tearing AND that the graphics aren't that bad in comparison to PC I don't why I would spend my summer's money on a new pc to run 1 game.

that's my point as well. . i don't want to hear that pcs so good when i cost 3 times as much as console.. for that price it better be able to jerk me..

people who buy PC make excuses to waste money on extravagant soon to be outdated products..

its like when someone buys a Rolex . its still just a watch and the price inst worth it.
besides my x box runs HD , it plays online (PC can have the 64 players, have fun getting killed by your own team to get the jet or chopper) and all my freinds have console and i don't want to play with PC nerds.

so if your a PC fan don't try to compare the two to me ..

.. p.s. why do PC people want mod tools..
cant you just enjoy what the company makes.. your not making it better by modding..

first off, mods are awsome, so we don’t need a new game every month like you console gamers. second, my gaming pc cost me $400, only about double that of the console, and our online play is free, and the hardware will run for a decade, my last pc was 11 years old and still kicking. where is xbox and ps3 on that? oh yeah, we don’t have to get a new system every 5 years to play on outdated hardware :)

have fun when your fantastic PC games get scripts and hacks running throughout the servers. with 50% real human and the other 50% running hacks. Far too prominent on PC platforms for my liking.

Xbox 360 is still my choice and a lot of others as well because of one point: hardware. Not everyone is able to update their system to be able to play these games and playing on the Xbox means everyone has the same hardware capabilities. Sure that means sacrificing some features and graphics but I'm OK with that.

sure better graphics but what cpu does it need

Thi sgame was clearly designed for pc so why waste your time and money getting the downgraded version? and id like to point out that my pc was 300 dollars and i dont have to pay for a party system, and i have more people in game, your game will be as big as my team.

I’m sorry but the entire tone of this article is so insecure. Why even mention that the pc version will look better? This has always been the case. Why not mention something that’s game changing like the fact that console versions will have 12v12 only and 32v32 on pc?

To me it does matter, because clearly console owners are feeling really sulky now being proven that their hardware is no longer up to date and capable of running today’s games.

    So hah.

Get a PC a play games properly.

And if you cant afford a PC, but you’ll undoubtedly buy the new Xbox 720 or PS4…for £600.  Which is enough to buy my laptop that runs BF3 on max at 30-50fps.

So yes, it does matter.  Because it shows console owners suffering when a game is meant to only be on PC.  Sweet justice.
