When Namco released its hugely popular Puzzle Quest 2 game onto the Apple App Store in December last year, it was unfortunately missing two vital components. The first was any form of multiplayer mode and the second was support for the iPhone 4’s Retina Display.
However, according to Daniel over on the intomobile.com website, it appears that the developer has been listening to the pleas of fans and the iOS game has now been updated. Not only does the Puzzle Quest 2 app now include multiplayer, but it also has Retina Display support.
The new multiplayer mode enables gamers to go head-to-head with characters that they’ve built up within the single-player story mode. Players can either go against their friends via local Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, or take the battle online through the Apple Game Center service.
Puzzle Quest 2 also features online leaderboards, which enables players to compare their high scores with others via the Game Center. As noted over on the itunes.apple.com website, the update has also added localization support for Spanish, French, Italian and German.
For those of you that have never played Puzzle Quest 2 before, it’s a game that combines match-3 gameplay with immersive role playing elements. Players get four different character classes to choose from: Sorcerer, Barbarian, Assassin and Templar. You can read more about the game via itunes.apple.com.
