Credence for iPhone 5 rumors, cave-in to Verizon iPhone 4

By Posted 6 Apr 2011, 14:02

Recently we have been hearing lots of iPhone 5 release rumors, some of these are stating that the 5th-gen iPhone may even arrive in 2012, we wonder if these rumors have resulted in you becoming impatient buying the Verizon iPhone 4.

The iPhone 5 release date is unknown, previous iPhone releases suggest that we could well see it arrive in June/July 2011, however some other sources are suggesting that it will arrive in September, if September comes and goes with no iPhone 5 chances are it will be delayed until 2012, but what does this mean for people who are almost due an upgrade now?

Well if your next smartphone has to be Apple the obvious choice has to be the Verizon iPhone 4, this is said to eradicate the antenna problems we saw with other iPhone 4 handsets and many say that Verizon’s coverage is much better than AT&T’s, but let’s not forget that in terms of multimedia capabilities and performance hardware nothing has changed.

With far more advanced smartphones running Google Android and Windows Phone 7 being released every month it would be in Apple’s interest to release the next-gen LiPhone asap, otherwise people may be swayed to buying a rival’s smartphone which features a dual-core processor, 4G connectivity and a high-resolution camera. Let’s face it when you compare the iPhone 4 to some of 2011′s smartphones it does seem dated in terms of tech specs.

We would love to hear from you if these iPhone 5 rumors have changed your plans to wait for Apple’s next smartphone, have you bought the Verizon iPhone 4 instead or switched to an Android device? Let us know in the comments section below.

I will definitely be getting a different phone if Apple doesn't release a new iPhone by September. I'm due for my upgrade in late July. I will continue using my current phone until Ssptember. I'm a current Verizon customer. I'm not getting an iPhone 4. So if you're listening Apple… I expect a better product from you, rather then a "hand me down" iPhone from AT&T.

I am currently up for early upgrade with Verizon. I purchased the HTC Incredible last may. Though it has been an "Incredible" phone, it has not quite lived up to the Android hype. I purchased it as a way to subside my Apple cravings, yet I found that Android was the Chinese food of the smartphone world. It filled me up quite fast but left me hungry for more soon after consumption. This is not to say Android is in any way, shape or form a poor substitute for Apple. I would say that it is not a substitute at all, rather a change in direction from the oh so satisfying steak and potatoes that is Apple.

Stepping off my soap box I will say this. I want an iPhone 5. I will not purchase the iPhone 4 simply because with Verizon's new no early upgrade policy (unless grandfathered in) I will be stuck with a 3G phone when the 4G version arrives.

In conclusion, yes, I am delaying my upgrade so that I may obtain the new "Incredible" phone… the iPhone 5.

That being said I am waiting for iPhone5 so I am not stuck in the 2 year agreement with Verizon with a 3G phone that is capable of so much more.

My upgrade was due in March but I am hanging onto my 3GS until I hear anything firm. I would hate to get an iphone 4 only to see the five pop up the following month or 2

You know – I got my wife a Verizon iPhone 4 on Feb 3rd when they let verizon customers pre-order – she loves it… I got my Verizon iPhone 4 last week – I played with my wife's and it made me hate my Windows phone even more… I hated my phone…. If I need to get an iHone 5 this year – I will gladly sell my 4 on ebay for $400 and pay the extra $250.00 again… It just wasn't worth waiting…

I have an alias 2 phone by verizon currently and our contract was up in late january so i have been biding my time waiting for the iphone 5 simply because there is a chance they could offer a version of it with a slide out qwerty. Does anyone know if apple would make a couple different versions of the iphone 5, one with perhaps a slide out qwerty keyboard for those of us that prefer that over the touch qwerty keyboard. The droid 2 has both a touch screen and slide out keyboard but i still am hoping for apple to offer that same functionality. Apple could entice many customers away from their slide out qwerty keyboard phones if they did. Iphone is already a huge seller but to pull in the hold outs who want a slide out keyboard could be huge. and then still offer the regular iphone with no slide out keyboard as another choice.

I purchased the iPhone 4 on release day last June. I have been completely satisfied with it! I will be waiting for the next iPhone to come out. It seems most call it "iPhone 5" when it could just as easily be named "iPhone 4G" based on the fact that it will most likely have 4G capabilities. I cannot wait for the new iteration of the iPhone, and I will definitely be staying with AT&T and Apple as AT&T is in the process of buying T-Mobile which will be a HUGE advancement to their network!

My upgrade for a new phone through Verizon was available in December. I'm not getting the iPhone 4 nor am I going to get an android phone. For now I'm still using my falling apart Blackberry Storn (the worse purchase I have made). I'm counting on the iPhone 5 coming out this summer. If it doesn't I'm not sure about waiting until September. I've used Verizon for years and don't plan to switch cariers. I might get one of the super cheap phones that come free or for about $20 to tide me over and just sign up for another 2 years after the 5 comes out. If the phone doesn't come out in the summer, I'm going to be really irritated. I saw in the newspaper this week that Apple will reveal a new OS this summer (June, I think – but I've already recycled the paper). That gives me hope.

I was due for an upgrade in February, and after waiting just over a month, I caved and got the iPhone 4 due to all of the delays rumors. I’ve only had the phone for a couple of days but I’m glad I opted not to wait. This phone has everything I need and I constantly find new features or apps to be amazed by. Some of the rumored features of the iPhone 5 are not overly attractive to me so I don’t think I’ll disappointed even if it does come out. Although, I’ve been with BB for so long that maybe anything looks good.

I currently have an iPhone 3GS. I didn't think it was worth upgrading to the iPhone 4 yet (even though with AT&T you can upgrade iPhone to iPhone before your contract is up with a minimal charge of $18.99 or something within that range). There wasn't that much of a difference besides the camera's megapixels. I've been an avid iPhone user since the 1st generation and have had an iPhone since then. I'm anxiously waiting for the release of the iPhone 5 to change my phone that I've had for 2 years now. My husband caved and he recently purchased an Android phone a week ago. I believe it's the "Facinate". Not quite sure. He's also been an iPhone user since 2007. I must say he's quite impressed by his new phone. As for me…… I shall wait. The iPhone is still by far the best cell phone there is!
