Rovio Mobile released its latest version of Angry Birds towards the end of last month. The new version which is called Rio was first launched as an exclusive game on Amazon’s new Android Appstore. Now the game is now available on the Apple App Store and Android Market Place, and has achieved some impressive download figures.
Stuart Dredge over at Cnet is reporting that the Rio version of Angry Birds has been downloaded over ten million times in just ten days. The news came via a tweet last week from the official @RovioMobile Twitter account.
Angry Birds Rio for the iOS platform is currently available for $0.99 in the US and £0.59 in the UK. But owners of Android devices can get it free from the Android Marketplace. The biggest share of downloads were probably down to the free version on the Android platform, but it is pretty impressive figures.
The Rio version of the game is based on the new film and sees users trying to break out fellow colorful birds from their cages. Further into the game you are given a new animal enemy to dive-bomb, which are nefarious monkeys.
We have played Angry Birds Rio and found it to be one of the best versions yet, and as we reported before the graphics have been improved. If you are a fan of Angry Birds and not played Rio yet, give it a try you won’t be disappointed.
