Warlords Remake Heading to PlayStation Network / Xbox Live Arcade

By Updated on

Atari’s classic coin-operated arcade game Warlords may have been remade for XBLA once before back in 2008, but it looks like the title is receiving yet another remake. However, this time the game will be heading to both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.

According to a recent eurogamer.net article by Fred Dutton, the new remade version of Warlords – which was first released back in 1980 – will add a variety of online and local multiplayer modes including classic free-for-all battles, two-on-two games and a co-op siege mode.

The game is being developed by Griptonite Games, who is also responsible for other titles such as the DS puzzler Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir, the DS version of the Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions game and the Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines title.

Jim Wilson – the CEO of Atari – said that Warlords combines the arcade action genre with robust strategy gameplay, and a vibrant and bold visual style. The game has players trying to destroy the walls of their competitors’ fortresses, by bouncing projectiles across the screen.

Unfortunately we do not know a specific release date as of yet, but we do know that it will be arriving sometime in the summer. Would you be interested in playing a 21st century remake of the classic Warlords game?
