We have some essential information now for Motorola Droid X users, and it’s the news you’ve all been waiting for. An official build of Android 2.3 Gingerbread is now available to download for the handset, although it hasn’t been released by Verizon.
Instead, it has provided by the guys over at My Droid World, who incidentally have also made the Gingerbread download for the Motorola Droid 2 available as well. We not sure how they managed to get hold of this build, but it’s irrelevant anyway – Gingerbread has arrived on the Droid X!
You’ll find the download links and instructions on how to perform the upgrade over at Droid-Life. Since this is the real slice of Gingerbread that is now available for free, there is also a donate link through the link which users are urged to donate towards.
It’s entirely optional though, you could just go ahead and download now and reap the benefits of a brand new interface for your precious Droid X. Don’t worry if you are concerned about safety risks either, as the download also contains information on how to revert back to your previous version if you choose to.
What are your thoughts on this Droid X owners? Are you going to install this right away, or wait for the official OTA from Verizon? If you have already got Gingerbread up and running on your device, let us know how things are going at the moment.
