Keeping fit and healthy can prove really hard sometimes and the idea of going to the gym may scare the hell out of some of us. However, health and wellness company OptumHealth has recently launched its OptumizeMe app for iOS and Android, which is aimed at making keeping fit fun.
According to a recent article by Dusan over at intomobile.com, the OptumizeMe application – which is already available to those on the Windows Phone 7 operating system – enables users to create and challenge friends to different fitness competitions, as well as trade digs and encouragement.
People can either use the OptumizeMe service, or link to their existing Facebook account in order to create new fitness challenges. The app will then track both the users’ and their friends’ progresses on the challenges set and reward them with virtual badges for any goals achieved.
As noted over on the itunes.apple.com website, users can create their own health and fitness challenges based upon their own personal interests, or just pick from the list of existing challenges. It even enables you to post your progress on Facebook if you wanted to.
That’s just the start of it as well, as future versions of the OptumizeMe app will allow users to connect with a virtual personal health and fitness coach, who will then guide them along the way. Are you hoping to get fit and healthy? If so, will you be downloading the OptumizeMe app?
