Sony NEX-FS100: Professional Camcorder Announced

If you’re looking to do some home video making but do not want it to look homemade, then this new professional Sony NEX-FS100 camcorder could be just the device you need.

Sony announced their latest line which is the advanced version of the NXCAM concepts and professional versions of the NEX-VG10 camcorders. It comes with an E lens mount and is fronted by an Exmore Super 35mm CMOS sensor.

The FS100 also features a detachable 3.5” LCD display, a pair of XLR inputs and I capable of shooting in full HD 1920 x 1080. It also has a number of choice options like HXR-FMU128 flash memory storage or SD, integrated memory stick or uncompressed HDMI output. It has a lens adapter so other formats can also be used.

According to the article by Dylan Reeve at Crews.TV the E18-200mm lens that comes with the NEX-FS100 features optical SteadyShot zoom, autofocus and F3.5-F6.3. As mentioned before the LCD is detachable as is the viewfinder and handgrip thanks to the camcorder’s modular design.
