We have some rather interesting news now for those of you that own an iOS or Android device and currently use the Shazam mobile phone-based music identification service, as the company has just released a major update to its Android and iOS apps.
According to a recent article over on the businesswire.com website, the update brings with it a really exciting new feature called ‘Shazam Friends.’ The added feature is a new and innovative way for Shazam users to discover and share new music with their Facebook friends.
The new ‘Shazam Friends’ feature provides users with a real-time feed of tracks that their friends have tagged. As Andrew Fisher – the CEO at Shazam – notes, the feature not only enables users to see what songs their friends are tagging, but it also allows them to listen to the track.
They even have the ability to purchase the song if they wanted to. Once users have updated the app, logged onto their Facebook accounts and confirmed that they want to connect and share with their friends, they can do a whole host of things.
This includes things such as browse all of their friends’ tags, watch music videos, get artist tour information, view all the recent tags from one particular friend, purchase a track, post tags to Twitter and Facebook, add comments and encourage their friends to start using ‘Shazam Friends.’
