If you are security conscious and use Twitter we have some great news for you, Twitter’s developers have added a new security feature which is configurable by the user, this allows users to use HTTPS when logging in to the popular microblogging service.
To enable HTTPS simply login to Twitter, go to your Twitter settings page and under account settings scroll down to “HTTPS Only”, here you can tick a box next to “always use HTTPS” and then save the changes you have made, now whenever you login to Twitter HTTPS will be used.

You can find out more HTTPS here, to cut a long story short HTTPS combines the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) with the SSL/TLS protocol, this sort of security is usually used with online banking and electronic purchases as it ensures that there is a secure encrypted connection between the server and the web browser.
I have enable HTTPS on my Twitter account and now when I log in it shows “https://twitter.com” in the address bar, Chrome also “green lights” the site and confirms that the connection between me and Twitter has been encrypted with 256-bit encryption using SSL 3.0, you can see an image showing the secure connection below.
Have you enabled HTTPS on your Twitter account? If not, why not?
