The North American Homefront release date is finally here, however we must say that we were slightly disappointed to hear that IGN’s Homefront review resulted in a score of just 7.0 out of 10, obviously 7/10 is not awful, however we expected more because of all of the hype surrounding the game.
You can read IGN’s fully detailed review here, as you probably know IGN look at the game’s presentation, graphics, sound, gameplay and lasting appeal, they scored it 9/10 for its presentation and say that the plot is great, but they then score the game 6.5/10 for its graphics saying that it is not ugly, but incomparable to Crysis 2.
IGN score Homefront 7.0/10 in terms of sound, gameplay and lasting appeal, on the whole it seems as if the sound and gameplay are average and offer nothing overly impressive, as for lasting appeal the short campaign is a let-down, however its strong mutliplayer modes make up for this.
The review was based on the Xbox 360 version of the game, however it is thought that the PS3 and PC versions of the game will be pretty similar. The bottom-line seems to be that if you do not intend on playing the multiplayer modes the inexcusably short campaign makes the game a waste of money, perhaps the developers should seriously consider releasing some free DLC which will add new missions to the campaign.
Has IGN’s review put you off Homefront?
