Although we are still unsure exactly how many iPad 2’s were sold in the United States in its very first weekend, reports have claimed that demand was “amazing.” With the iPad 2 stock in short supply, Apple retail stores appear to be taking extra measures.
As noted on applebitch.com, Apple is said to be opening their retail stores 1 hour earlier on Tuesday for iPad 2 sales. Although there is no official announcement from Apple, customers have been told by Apple staff that even if they were re-stocked today, they wouldn’t sell the iPad 2 until tomorrow.
This is the reason why Apple stores would be opening early tomorrow. Applebitch.com had confirmation from three separate stores that they would be opening earlier, which would mean a 9am opening time for most stores. Apple is likely to be doing this in order for them to manage crowd control.
There have also been reports from other readers that their local stores are opening an hour early, so it’s probably worth contacting your nearby store to see if they too are opening sooner. Have you picked up a new iPad 2 yet, or are you one of the people that have been trying to buy one today?
