We told you earlier today about the Verizon Wireless customers receiving flyers advertizing the HTC Thunderbolt as available, but we still have no release date. But that could be about to change as the HTC Thunderbolt’s ‘device showcase’ application has gone live for Verizon employee handsets on the Android Market.
Kellex over at DroidLife is reporting the app will be downloaded on demo units and employee handsets, so the Thunderbolt can be showcased to potential customers. Now it still is not a release date but it is one less thing to cross off before release.
On the demos included with the app there was no sign of Skype with video, but there is talk of worldwide video chatting. They have also been told by their contacts over at Big Red that certain areas have been told to ‘demo out’ 4G SIM cards. They have to submit the SIM ID’s to be activated for the Thunderbolt units today by close of business.
When this was done before for 4G mobile broadband cards products were available within a week. The application has brought some excitement for Verizon customers, but many are fed up with not getting a release date. Even though no date has ever been given for the Thunderbolt by Verizon, patience is running quite thin in some quarters.
Do you expect to see the Thunderbolt within days?
