If you’re a fan of the Croteam-developed Serious Sam series of video games, then I think we have some rather interesting information for you. The developer and the publisher – Devolver Digital – have just announced a new Serious Sam Indie Series, which comprises of three titles.

According to JC Fletcher over on the joystiq.com website, the three games will all be developed by different indie developers, who will then remake the classic shooter in their own styles. The 3 developers in question are Mommy’s Best Games, Be-Rad Entertainment and Vlambeer.

Mommy’s Best Games will of course be doing what it does best, and will create a frantic side-scrolling shooter for both PC and consoles. This title will be called Serious Sam: Double-D. Vlambeer on the other hand will create a turn-based RPG called Serious Sam: The Random Encounter.

We unfortunately don’t know what platforms the Serious Sam: The Random Encounter will be coming to at this stage. As for Be-Rad Entertainment, they will interpret the series as an auto-running game. This title will be called Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack!

Although we don’t know what platforms the Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack! game will be on either, it sounds like it could be on for a mobile release. Are you a fan of the Serious Sam games?
