Apple iOS 4.3 Live: Download Now

By Updated on

If you are not already aware, Apple users can now download iOS 4.3 which has come 2 days earlier than the original projected date of March 11. With the new update, you are treated to a host of new features and improvements from 4.2. Let’s just hope that there is not a countless list of iOS 4.3 problems.

Engadget report that the update is readily available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users who should see the update upon plugging in their Apple device and loading up iTunes.

So what is included in the update you say? As we detailed previously, one of the heavy hitters of 4.3 will be the added Wi-Fi HotSpot functionality.

This is pleasing news for iPhone owners who did not get their iPhone with from Verizon, the Verizon iPhone launched with this feature, but up until now AT&T customers have been waiting. To use this feature though, you must be signed up to the corresponding data plan that supports it. You can view more information on a previous article here.

Alongside the addition of HotSpots, we also get a bundle of AirPlay updates and features, a new version of Safari web browser, and a selection of minor updates which include the ability to customize how the side switch on your iPad behaves.

The new version of Safari comes with new updates, which Apple say will make the browser run twice as quick as the previous version.

iTunes Home Sharing also received the update treatment with the ability to now connect to home Wi-Fi networks and stream countless content from iOS devices to other multimedia outlets such as televisions, speakers and other devices.

Have you installed iOS 4.3? If so, did it goe smoothly or are you experiencing problems?

iPhone to iOS 4.3: download was 5 minutes and update took 10 minutes. First sync took a while because the photo-library is re-optimized and -synced again. No big differences found after update. T-Mobile NL doesn't allow tethering so no new options in network preferences. http://www.iphoned.nl/t-mobile-staat-personal-hot
Found home-sharing account option in iPod preferences but had to enter the right account in the iTunes app too before 'shared' turned up in iPod app. Safari loads are good, but I was never complaining before.

After that it had to download the upgrade again for the iPad. This time it took only 7 minutes to update but 8000+ photo's this time so sync took a long while on my MacPro… be prepaired, it took over an hour!
Set the side-switch to rotation lock asap at Settings/General/ (!) – thank you Steve for listening! You'll find a mute-button on the left in the app-switcher now.
Entered home-sharing account and played some music and film streaming from my mac, which is fine and skips the necessity of syncing after downloading a new movie.
Movies are found within iPod app on iPhone and the Movies app on the iPad, which difference I still find strange.

Bottom line: if you got the time and no jailbreak wishes, update it. It's a one-click action as always and runs fine.
