If you are currently locked down to an iPad contract with AT&T and you’re thinking about upgrading to the iPad 2 soon, we have some very good news for those of you who are worried about the prospect of losing your precious unlimited data package.
Perhaps with one eye on potential customers moving to Verizon iPad data plans, AT&T has made the first positive step in securing customers, by stating that all current iPad 1 owners on an unlimited data package will still be able to make use of it if they buy the iPad 2, as reported from BGR.
We’re not sure how this will work exactly, or if AT&T are planning to increase their prices slightly, but we’re hoping its just a smooth transition from iPad to iPad 2, with data plan prices remaining untouched.
Are you surprised that AT&T has decided to keep unlimited data for the iPad 2? Will this give you a bigger incentive to pick one up one on AT&T or not? It will be interesting to see how Verizon respond to this – will they follow suit and offer a unlimited plan too? Don’t forget though, that the iPad 2 on Verizon will be restricted to 3G connectivity only, not 4G LTE.
