Now that the iPad 2 has been officially announced we are now wondering whether we will soon find out details regarding an iPhone 4 release soon, it is pretty much certain that we will see an iPhone 5 in 2011, however what can we expect from this smartphone?
The iPad 2 is slimmer, faster and lighter than its predecessor, there for many expect the new iPhone 5 to be slimmer, faster and lighter than the iPhone 4.
Apple’s iPhone 4 is 9.3mm thick and weighs 137 grams, after calculating the percentage difference between the iPad an iPad 2 we can say that the iPhone 5 may weigh 121 grams and be just 6mm thick, obviously these figures will not be 100% accurate, however many would be surprised if the iPhone 5 was thicker and heavier than the iPhone 4, its just not what we have come to expect from Apple.
As you probably know Apple use the same processors in the iPhone 4 as they do in the original iPad, therefore we expect this to be the case with the next-gen iPad and next-gen iPhone 5, we know that the next-gen iPad (aka iPad 2) uses a custom-designed 1GHz dual-core Apple A5 processor (SoC), therefore we also expect the iPhone 5 to use the same chip, which means that performance will be much faster and in-game graphics will be far superior than before.
