We recently reported that Best Buy might have predicted that the iPad 2 was coming, due to the fact that they removed their inventory of Apple’s current tablet. However, it seems as if they did really know, as the iPad 2 will be at Best Buy, as well as Walmart. Both will also be selling the Smart Cover’s to go with them.
Best Buy was the first to reveal that they will be selling the 2nd-generation iPad at the same time as the Apple Store, March 11, 2011. However, Walmart has yet to inform us when they will be selling it. Best Buy is not one to hang about, and has already started to advertise both the iPad 2 and the Smart Cover, they will go on sale at 17:00 on launch day.
There is no pre-order for the device, the new iPad and cover will not go on sale on the website until March 11, which means that you will have to wait a few days for shipping. If you wish to get Apple’s tablet on the day, then you will need to make your way down to either an Apple Store or Best Buy.
One would presume that Walmart would want to get in on the action on launch day, so find it hard to understand why they have yet to inform us when they will make it available. Apple Insider says that all Walmart says on their website is that the iPad 2 is out of stock and will be coming soon – very strange indeed.
Apple needs to make the new iPad available to as many stores as possible. There has been no word if they will be on sale at AT&T and Verizon stores, but one would presume they would be?
Do you think the iPad 2 will have stronger sales than the current model?
