T-Mobile G1 and HTC Magic Get Sweet Taste of Honeycomb

By Updated on

When you hear about hacking, it always sounds so negative. In most cases it is but the odd one will provide something positive like in this case. Thanks to hackers Yohshua and ZFr3eak at XDA the HTC Magic and G-1 can now have Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS.

The way in which this is possible is via a port. It has not quite been perfected yet with some of the essential Honeycomb features such as Mms and Sms, not working on these devices, but AliWaqas believes hackers will soon be able to sort out these issues.

Most of the Android OS features do work however, such as the Honeycomb UI, multi-touch and Honeycomb keyboard. But there is a lag in the UI that seems it will be permanent. Once the AOSP is out, it is believed these can be resolved.

The hackers have released a video to show the progress they have made so far and intend on releasing an Alpha Rom once the bug fixes are in place. You can view the video below so you can check it out for yourself.

What do you think of this Honeycomb upgrade? Do you think hacking like this is wrong or right? Let us know what you think below.
