Most Common Passwords: List of Those to Avoid

From the moment that you get a computer you are asked to choose a password for your device, this then extends to going on the Internet. Getting these right is so imported, so try not to use the most common passwords. Below we have a list of those to avoid, most of which are very obvious.

A recent study has been looking into this and has found that thousands of people are leaving themselves wide open for attack. Rebecca Atkinson from Moneywise believes that the ten most common passwords to avoid are as follows: 123456, 12345, 123456789, Password, iloveyou, princess, rockyou 1234567, 12345678 and finally abc123. Now I know I used a few weak passwords in my time, but never anything like those above – they are just waiting to be hacked in to.

If you do not wish to be at risk from fraud or even identity attack, then you had better change your password. The best ones to go for are a mix of both letter and numbers, also try not to repeat them next to each other. To give you an example, do not use passwords such as oopeteoo or chubb1100; do you get the idea?

Passwords have been a constant issue since the Internet got big, and even worse since the introduction of Facebook. The social network has come under fire for poor security, and as such people were asked to change their Facebook passwords to log in. However, this did open people’s eyes, and has made them more aware, so change their password on a regular basis. This is something that we should apply to a number of our online accounts, here are a few tips on creating stronger passwords.
