As we have just informed you, Apple has just announced the iPad 2 to the world at their special March 2nd event. We previously showed you some first pictures of the device, but now we have a confirmed release date for the US and UK.
Straight from Apple chief Steve Jobs himself, we can confirm that the iPad 2 will launch in the US on March 11th, followed by a launch in 26 other countries on March 25th, which includes those of you in the UK, and the rest of Europe.
To our readers in Japan and Australia, you’ll be delighted to hear that you won’t have to wait further to get your hands on the iPad 2, as Apple has also confirmed that you’ll get the device on March 25th as well – everyone is happy.
Apple really impressed us during the event, as they have decided to keep the same price point for the iPad 2, despite the fact that it comes with significant hardware upgrades such as front and back cameras and a dual core processor. The iPad 2 will be available for the same $499 price for the 16GB WiFi model, and $629 for the WiFi + 3G model.
We’ll be bringing you a full recap on features and specs soon, including a side-by-side comparison with the iPad 1 – stay tuned for that. Let us know your thoughts on the device. Will you be buying one on March 11th or March 25th?
