iOS 4.3 Release Date and List of New Features

By Updated on

We have just informed you about the official release date for the second generation iPad device, but you’ll be pleased to hear that Apple has also put an official release date on iOS 4.3 as well – the latest edition of their operating system for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices.

This may be a surprise to those of you who were expecting it to come later on in the year, but Apple has announced that iOS 4.3 will ship with the iPad 2 and it will be available to download for other devices on March 11 – the same launch date for the iPad 2.

There are a lot of new features to talk about in iOS 4.3, perhaps the biggest feature of iOS 4.3 is the iTunes Home Sharing feature, which will allow you to access all of your content on iPad or iPhone device which is stored on a Mac computer using a WiFi connection. This is sure to be a feature which a lot of you will appreciate – we have spoken about this particular aspect of iOS 4.3 in a previous article here.

Another key feature of iOS 4.3 which is specifically for the iPhone 4 only, is a personal hotspot. Most of you will already know how this works – this will allow you to share your internet connection on your iPhone with other wireless devices nearby, just like the Verizon iPhone can.

Apple has also improved the Safari browser in iOS 4.3, and there’s an enhanced version of AirPlay as well which will let you watch Airplay videos from certain websites online.

In our opinion, the features aren’t groundbreaking. The iTunes Home sharing feature is the most impressive and the one which users will make the most use of. We’re guessing that iOS 5 will really bring the radical changes that some of you had hoped to see in iOS 4.3.

Which feature are you most looking forward to using? iOS 4.3 lands on March 11, mark it down.

    Thanks for the update.

HotSpot for sure!!. I am really looking forward for this feature. Another one, which I am dead sure apple would never add, is Flash Support. Anyways, that's how corporate world works, isn't ? ;-)
