Back in November last year, we announced that a closed beta would be released for the much anticipated Battlefield Play4Free title for the PC. We have now received word that Electronic Arts is launching an open beta, which will begin at the start of April.
However, according to an article by Wesley Yin-Poole over at eurogamer.net, anyone who has previously played Battlefield Bad Company 1 or 2, or Battlefield 1943 and signed in with their EA ID will be granted access to the open beta as from March 31st.

The beta will then launch on April 2nd, for both Facebook and Twitter followers. Easy Studio’s boss Ben Cousens spoke about the closed beta at the Game Developer’s Conference recently, and said that 600,000 people signed up to the Battlefield Play4Free closed beta.
Battlefield Play4Free is said to employ the 4th generation of the PC engine that was previously used to create BF2, Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield 2142. Some of the features that we can expect from the game include 32-player battles, vehicular warfare and sandbox gameplay.
Gamers can look forward to popular maps from the Battlefield 2 game, with weapons and classes from the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 title. You can view a trailer for the upcoming game via the eurogamer.net website. Is this a game that you are looking forward to playing on the PC?
