The iPad 2 event kicks off later today, however it seems as if Apple are quietly confident as a recent DigiTimes article has reported that Apple expects to shift 6-6.5 million iPads in Q1 2011, this includes the new iPad 2.
According to DigiTimes’ unnamed sources, Apple are aiming to ship 40 million iPads in 2011, we are not to sure how legitimate these sources are, however if we take them seriously it means Apple want to ship more than two million iPad’s in March 2011.
We recently set up a poll to see how many of our readers would be buying the iPad 2, this poll was only set up roughly an hour ago (at the time of writing), however it already shows that most people will buy the iPad 2 on its release day, some of which said they would buy the iPad 2 regardless of what is revealed today.
DigiTimes also suggest that initial shipment of iPad 2’s will consist of between 300,000 and 400,000 units, again this was revealed buy their unnamed sources, therefore we cannot confirm if this will be the case, however last year Apple managed to sell 300,000 iPad’s on its launch day so Apple will have high-hopes.
