By now you would have learned all there was to know about the new iPad 2, such as the official specs, the final version of iOS 4.3 for the device, as well as SmartCovers. So now you know what Apple’s new device has to offer, so you now have a decision to make, do you choose AT&T or Verizon?
When Apple launched the original version last year it was only made available on AT&T, as was the iPhone 4. However, the phone was offered to Verizon customers at the beginning of last month. Apple seems to have come to their senses, as the iPad 2 will also be on the Verizon network. This is great news for consumers, but not so great for iPad rivals, as Apple will now have a bigger reach.
As with the previous iPad, the second-generation comes in Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi/3G, but on AT&T or Verizon Wireless. The choice will be down to you, but there is one small detail that you need to know before you make your decision; the Big Red version is slightly lighter, 1.34 pounds compared to AT&T’s 1.34 pounds. You will hardly notice the difference, but we felt that it was worth mentioning.
Once the new iPad 2 comes up for pre-order you need to make certain that you select the correct carrier. Even though the latest tablet device does not offer 4G LTE as the Motorola Xoom will do soon, having the choice of two carriers, more power and access to all those apps will be more than enough to not only keep that tablet at bay, but all the others coming to market – well in theory anyway.
Which carrier will you choose for your iPad 2, AT&T or Verizon?
