CoD Modern Warfare 3: Viral Hints a Hoax?

Yesterday we spoke about the viral pages hinting towards the next installment in Call of Duty’s series (you can read the post here), the award winning series really needs no introduction and it is clear why the hype is building for the title, however Activision are keeping extremely quiet about MW3.

A recent article posted on Joystiq features a quote from the guys at Activision, it suggests that the findmakarov site is fake, which in-turn seems to refutes rumors of a reveal at GDC in four days time, here is their statement: “There seems to be a great deal of speculation about the next Call of Duty project. Let me be clear that we are not revealing yet. Anything indicating otherwise is a hoax.”

Last year Call of Duty: Black Ops was officially announced in April, roughly 7 months before the game’s release, it is thought that Modern Warfare 3 will arrive in Q4 2011, therefore don’t be too surprised if we hear something from Activision sometime soon.

The findmakarov site shows a countdown timer which is set to end on 10.00am next Wednesday March 2. This website is what Activision are claiming to be a hoax, however the whole website looks pretty professional in our opinion.

Do you think the countdown timer is a hoax?

It does all look pretty pro. Could it be Respawn's doing or Infinity Ward's???
