Here is a handy little gadget for those of you that spend hours at their desk well into the dark hours of the evening. It’s a task light from Quirky called the Mantis.

Quirky are responsible for coming up with various products that are normally socially demanded and according to Slashgear ‘almost always cool.’ The latest in their line up doesn’t disappoint either, the Mantis clip on task light can stand on its flip-out non-skid tipped legs or can clip on to your notebook screen or bottom of your LCD monitor.

It is run on two AA batteries that power its 11 LEDs for up to 30 hours. It can be set to low light or bright light and turns off after 120 minutes so as to save energy. It measures 9.1” x 1.0” x 1.0” with the clip measuring 2.6” x 1.4” x 2.2”.

The Quirky Mantis is up for pre-sale at their website now for $26.99. They are hoping to sell 1500 before the lights go into production and so far have sold 110.

Other cool designs from Quirky include the Picture Leveler used for making sure your pictures hang straight, the Plug Hub for keeping your cables tidy under your desk and Cordies which are used to keep cords above the desk tidy. All of these and more can be seen at their website here.

Wow I must be technically challenged or something. This thing has very light brights, and for the battery requirement it is great, but its design, well I just don’t get it. I use a laptop and there is just no way to utilize it other than duct tape. Sorry,
